Communication Needs Assessment on TB

The CNA was conducted in four states viz. Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa and West Bengal which concerned all major stakeholders including community members, local practitioners and TB patients.

The main objectives of the study were:

  • To understand the perception of people towards TB and TB patients.
  • To identify communication needs and approaches based on the understanding of communication gaps.
  • To give comprehensive recommendations on communication needs of the community on TB, messages and medium of communication.

A qualitative methodological approach was adopted for the study and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and In-depth Interviews (IDI) were employed as qualitative tools. The sample population was categorized according to location (rural and urban) and sex (ale and female) among various age groups for each state.
