    Handbook for Cold Chain HandlersThe Government of India is keen to attain global standards for its Immunization Program and several initiatives have been taken recently in this direction. As India hopes to reach at least 90% full immunization coverage over the next five years, it is critical to strengthen the immunization supply chain in the country. With the advent of newer technologies in temperature monitoring, cold chain storage and transportation equipment especially using green energy, stock and inventory management, there is a high potential to improve the existing system.

    The Handbook will also prove useful in understanding of various immunization related Management Information Systems (MIS) such as National Cold Chain Management Information System (NCCMIS), electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN) etc.

  • Sanjhi Sehat applies the PLA approach to ensure community participation in tackling health, nutrition, water and sanitation issues

    Since 2010, with support from the Madhya Pradesh Technical Assistance and Support Team (MPTAST), the PLA approach based on community mobilisation was implemented in Madhya Pradesh.

    Issues of maternal and neonatal health, nutrition and hygiene are addressed in a participatory manner through 22 community meetings in one project cycle.

  • Developing Capacity Building and Communication Material on State Adaptations of National Iron plus Initiative Program Surkhraj Kaur Sat, 11/07/2015 - 15:02

    The Government of India (GoI) in 2013 launched National Iron Plus Initiative as an attempt to look at Iron Deficiency Anemia comprehensively across all life stages including adolescents and women in reproductive age group who are not pregnant or lactating.

    Micronutrient Initiative Organization had hired New Concept for the development of capacity building and communication material on state adaptations of National Iron plus Initiative Program. In the briefing meeting, some background materials were also shared.

  • Training Modules and Training Materials for National School Eye Health, School Teachers and Paramedical Professionals Surkhraj Kaur Sat, 11/07/2015 - 14:54

    This project aimed to design culturally relevant training materials for school teachers and paramedical professionals of the government.

    In order to implement effective school eye health education program and community school programme, a large number of teachers and community health workers need to be trained to teach students and communities about best eye health practices.
     

  • Development of Interactive and Innovative Communication Material for the TV/Radio Serial ‘Main Kuch Bhi Kar Sakti Hoon’ Surkhraj Kaur Sat, 11/07/2015 - 12:39

    Population Foundation of India (PFI), with support from DFID, produced a multimedia entertainment education TV serial called “Main Kuch Bhi Kar Sakti Hoon” with women’s empowerment as its central theme.

    To complement and extend the messaging of the TV serial, New Concept was engaged in extensive outreach activities aimed towards enhancing and deepening the audiences’ engagement with key family planning issues. This was directed towards changing social norms and promoting positive behaviours on issues surrounding family planning; and was carried out through NGO partners, community-based networks and community health workers (ASHAs, ANMs) in select high priority districts of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.

     According to the census 2011, the indicators pertaining to Routine Immunisation in UP have been the lowest. Better coordination is 

    required between the health department and media personnels for enhanced awareness about RI among people.

     Under the Atal Bihari Bajpai Bal Arogya Evam Poshan Mission, a five-day training module for ICDS health frontline functionaries (AWWs) was developed by UNICEF, Bhopal.
